Very true.The eternal fight is going on in many a man's mind. Little they realise that both compliment each other and are not intended to supplant the other.As you have said correctly each of them have a separte place in his heart for totally different reasons.Short and powerful expression

A mysterious and a meaningful story. As Sana has rightly pointed out, I too interpreted it as the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. Truly, why should relationship have to certified by law, and we affix 'in-law' at the end. Relationships are built by heart.
